Featured in this lot is this City of Tombstone, AZ "Delinquent Tax List" circa 1885; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This is an Official Delinquent Tax List from the City of Tombstone. This ledger includes a list of notable and obscure citizens of the City of Tombstone and their delinquent taxes some of the names include: A. Bauer - Tombstone Butcher and gave testimony recounting altercation between Wyatt Earp and Tom McLaury, George Washington Buford - Built the "Buford House" an Iconic Tombstone Landmark, John Behan - Sheriff and resident of Tombstone during the O.K. Corral controversy (delinquent of $5.00), Stanley Bagg - founded The Tombstone Prospector, Mollie Edwards - Prostitute in Tombstone and also later killed by "Buckskin" Frank Leslie, Thomas Fitch - Owner of The Tombstone in 1885 was also the personal lawyer for Brigham Young, and Wyatt Earps lead defense attorney, A.J Ritter - Tombstone undertaker and tax collector of Cochise County. This ledger records due amounts that are still delinquent but also paid debts in some cases. a Signature book of the Pima County Bank (called the Holy Grail of Tombstone Artifacts) sold in 2014 for $68,750.00 through Heritage Auction. The condition of this of this Tombstone delinquent tax ledger is well preserved with only slight wear to the ledger and browning to the pages consistent with the age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this ledger is 10 1/4" x 7 7/8". TTD301
