Featured in this lot is this Tombstone found apothecary mortar and pestle circa 1885 and displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The mortar and pestle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows a wooden pestle with a barrel shape and carved decoration and shows a wooden handle mortar with a stone head for grinding herbs and medicine as the capacity of an apothecary. The mortar and pestle comes complete with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Mortar & Pestle from Tombstone - Ca. 1885. The mortar and pestle comes complete with paperwork from the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum that reads as follows: This circa 1885 Mortar & Pestle was purchased from Doug Heiser, who ran the Tombstone Pharmacy. I got it in 1990 from his window display and he said he had acquired it in Tombstone - Joe Soebbing. The condition of this mortar and pestle from Tombstone is well preserved with some very slight wear to the wooden pestle but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this mortar and pestle is 11 1/2" x 5 3/8" x 6 1/2". The collective weight of this mortar and pestle is 3lb 12oz. TT-21
