This is a highly desirable and rare circa 1887-1906 Harris Toy Co. Cast Iron Large Hook and Ladder Truck No. 165 massive toy fire truck setup from the ex- Frederick C. Crawford Auto Aviation Museum of Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, Ohio. Harris Toy Co. of Toledo, Ohio produced cast-iron toys in the 1880’s. Harris also acted as jobber for Dent, Hubley, and Wilkins, later financial difficulties forced them out of business by 1913. This is a very rare and shows the three horse setup of the Number 165 which was produced in circa 1880-1890 and was the largest and earliest example offered. A copy of an old toy valuation book identifying the piece is shown for reference, giving the piece a value of $1500-$2500. This horse-drawn fire ladder truck features the two original drivers, three red ladders, three horses and a bell underneath the front, horses move when rolled manually, A similar was on display at the Frederick C. Crawford Auto Aviation Museum of Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, Ohio.
