Featured in this lot is this Flexible Flyer No. 41 Airline Pilot sled circa 1890-1910 The sled features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wood and metal construction that shows the frame semi rectangular and is marked on the bottom as follows: Flexible Flyer No. 41 F Airline Pilot - Made in U.S.A. by SL Allen & Co Inc. Phila.Pa. Manufacturers of Planet Jr. Farm & Garden Tools Garden Tractors - Genuine Flexible Flyer With Safety-Runner and Super-Steering. The Flexible Flyer No. 41 is a classic American sled, known for its sturdy wooden frame and steel runners. Flexible Flyers were popularized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and became an iconic part of winter recreation. The condition of this sled is well preserved with some wear to the wood and patina to the metal of the sled but otherwise shows a well preserved condition for its age. The measurements of this sled is 5 1/4" x 20" x 41". The collective weight of this sled is 8lb 12oz.
