Featured in this lot is this Montana custom tooled western high back saddle circa 1890 to 1910. The saddle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted leather and wooden tree construction that shows tooling on the fenders and to the seat with some tooling in geometric patterns to the skirt and seat jockey that shows an exposed horn and shows custom made bucking rolls on the pommel of the saddle. This saddle is attributed for use starting colts with the security of a high back seat and the bucking rolls, this saddle has seen many of young horses underneath it. The condition of this custom saddle is well preserved with some wear to the leather and to the fleece on the underside of the skirt, the bucking rolls shows a severing to the mounting but otherwise is well preserved. The overall measurements of this saddle is 34 1/2" x 16" x 26 1/2" and the seat size is 14". The collective weight of this saddle is 30lb 2oz.
