This is a fabulous late-19th Century Plains beaded hide doll. The doll has a muslin trade clothe that is stuffed with raw wool or hair and covered with Indian tanned hide buckskin that is trade thread sewn. The doll has an Indian tanned hide head. The doll is adorned with 19th Century period correct glass trade seed beads in colors of chalk white, black, cobalt, sky padre light blue, Cheyenne pink white heart, and semi-transparent red. The doll has beaded facial features a real hair tied on. The doll has high top moccasins that are beaded. The base of the moccasins are parfleche rawhide hard soled. The piece has nice patina, soft hides and displays beautifully. Provenance: From a large Native American weapons and beadwork collection in California. Measures overall 14-inches long by 7”W. One moccasin is slightly loose.
