This is a fantastic circa 1900-1940's Cheyenne beaded saddle bags from a former March in Montana sale. The piece shows thick Indian tanned hide with a folded over section allowing for an internal bag on the inside of each side. The fronts of both sides have thread sewn glass trade seed beads from the early 1900's in a classic Cheyenne geometric pattern done in corn yellow, red, blue and faceted iridescent. The beadwork borders the entire outside edge with intregral thick hand cut fringes on one side. The bottom shows thick wide long artful fringes and metal trade bells. The bags show hide lacing sewing and are well preserved. Provenance: From a former March in Montana auction; from a prominent Bozeman, Montana collection. Measures overall 110-inches long by 13.5-inches wide.
