Featured in this lot is this Eskimo sealskin wooden female doll circa 1900 to 1930's. The doll features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wood, fabric, and seal skin construction that shows extremely life like clothing and garments with a parka made entirely of seal skin and hand quilled with braided colors of yellow, red, and blue. The trousers are immaculately constructed from seal skin and colored hide with quill work vertically woven into the leggings. The mukluks show seal skin construction with life like appereance with the layers of the footwear quilled with braided colors of red, yellow, and blue. The body of the doll is jointed to move with bending arms and legs and a turning head along with the human hair used on the head. The doll comes complete with with a small child doll with linen blouse with sealskin wrapped wood and when the females arm is bent is held in the crook of her arm, the doll shows the hand broke and the sealskin has wear to it but is preserved well for its age. The condition of this Eskimo Doll is well preserved with some wear to the clothing consistent with some age but the wear to the seal hide is natural. The measurements of this Eskimo doll is 16 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 2". The collective weight of this Eskimo doll is 12oz.
