The lot features two Sioux beaded miniatures from the Duhamel Trading Post in Rapid City, South Dakota dating to circa 1907-1920’s. Both beaded pieces are from the Sioux at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The Duhamel Trading Post was established in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1907 by Pete Duhamel, born in 1839 in Canada and moved to Rapid City, Dakota Territory in 1879. A digital photograph is shown in the description of the inside of Duhamel Trading Post with the walls lined with Indian wares such as Indian blankets, rugs, sculpture, beadwork, leather goods and more. First shows a bi-point stone head skull cracker war club with Indian hide wrapped head and wrapped handle which is covered in glass trade seed beadwork that is sinew sewn in a “crazy” pattern, the bottom has an Indian hide loop. The war club head is carved from stone and has a small chip. Next is a set of Sioux beaded Indian hide moccasins hanging from a beaded medallion trade thread sewn with glass trade seed beadwork in colors of greasy yellow, greasy green, medium blue and red / orange having a small section of faceted metal beads. From the Duhamel Trading Post and Pine Ridge Indian Reservation from the Sioux circa 1907-1920’s. War club measures 5”L by 1 3/8”W. The moccasins and medallion measures 3” by b 1.5”.
