The lot features a fine hair pipe bone beaded breast plate from the 1920's to 1940's and the Sioux Native American Indians of the Plains. The piece consists of sixty-six long bone hairpipe (hair pipe) early beads with natural bone to slightly yellowing and spotted color from honest patina. The piece is constructed with four thick sections of harness saddle trade leather tied together with Indian tanned hide ties and further accented by solid brass, round, old trade beads with a nice dark patina. This is truly a wonderful traditional representation of a Chief or Warrior men’s breast plate from the early to mid-Indian Reservation Period. The piece is very similar in manufacture and material as the Sioux Chief’s Breast Plate sold by our company in November 2021 for $11,685 (shown with premiums), with the only main difference being the lack of a trade mirror and yellowing/stiffening of the hide. The condition of this breast plate is 11 1/4" x 14". The collective weight of this breast collar is 1lb 12oz.
