Featured in this lot is this Navajo Ganado Eye Dazzler rug circa 1920's. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted hand woven wool construction that shows an abnormally soft demeanor. The rug pattern shows a multi medallion design with eye dazzler decoration woven into the boxy stepped design to the rug with an outside solid border. The coloration of the rug shows a heathered grey that shows lazy lines throughout the rug with the multi medallion decoration confirmed with brown, cream, and red coloration and the solid border is brown. Navajo Ganado Eye Dazzler rugs are masterworks of textile artistry that marry the rich heritage of the Ganado regional style with the hypnotic, high-contrast aesthetics of "Eye Dazzler" optical design. Pioneered during the late-19th-century Transitional Period, weavers utilized newly available aniline dyes and commercial yarns to craft intensely vibrant patterns. A classic Ganado Eye Dazzler is anchored by a deep, rich "Ganado Red" background framed by a bold black or dark brown border. The condition of this Navajo rug is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this rug are 62 1/2" x 38 1/2".
