The lot features a circa 1920 Winnebago Beaded Gauntlet Glove set with authenticity certificate letter from Mark Sublette. The set was sold from Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery in November 2013 with the letter from Sublette as well as a letter from the ex-Hill Collection in Arizona. The set shows Indian tanned hide classic gauntlet gloves with fringed outer edges and zig-zag hide trim at the back of the gauntlet and down the inside edge of the gauntlet. The tops of the gloves and gauntlets show classic 1910-1920’s floral beadwork that is trade thread sewn with glass trade seed and petit Czechoslovakian bugle beads. The inside of the gloves have a muslin trade clothe lining. Provenance: From the Stephen Johnston collection formerly from Darby, Montana and Foster City, CA; ex-Hill Collection Arizona, ex-Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery, purchased by Kathy Baird 2013. Nice 1920 pair that are well kept with only small bead loss and supple soft hides having nice original patina. Each measures 14.25”L by 6.5”W with the trim adding an additional 4” to 7” of width. The original certificate of authenticy from Mark Sublette and former collection letter copies are included.
