Featured in this lot is this Navajo Toadlena / Two Grey Hills Trading Post rug circa 1920-1930's collected from Fort Defiance 1920-1930's. Provenance: The collectors grandmother and grand father were homesteaders in Hesperus, Colorado in the late 1800's and purchased this rug from the Fort Defiance Trading Post in the 1920-1930's. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that shows a traditional Two Grey Hills design including the double layer border of black and off white with a light brown field. The rug features multiple lazy lines throughout the piece and a almost Toadlena central medallion in the center of the rug and features tassels on all four corners of the rug. The condition of this Navajo rug is well preserved with some very slight wear to the rug consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this rug 57" x 27". The thread count of this rug is 168 threads per square inch.
