This is an original Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) photogravure on Holland Van Goldier Zonen paper titled, "Snakes and Antelopes at Oraibi" dated 1921. The piece is marked in the artwork, " Snakes and Antelopes at Oraibi / From Copyright Photograph 1921 by E.S. Curtis". Edward Sherriff Curtis was an American photographer and ethnologist whose work focused on the American West and on Native American people. This is a truly stunning image shows a dance titled Snakes and Antelopes at the Oraibi Hopi village with outstanding detail of the sacred dance. The piece is professionally framed and matted. The visible art area measures 6.25-inches by 7 7/8-inches and the frame is 14.25-inches 18.25-inches by 1-inches thick. This is a highly desirable piece with an example being sold or listed by Mark Sublette Gallery for $4,000.
