Featured in this lot is this Miles City, Montana Roundup rodeo program circa 1930. The program features a wonderfully and professionally crafted paper back construction that includes advertisements of the day and the daily program for July 3, 4, & 5, 1930. Miles City Roundup is famous for the talent that participated and includes famous names like Pete Knight, Bob Askrin (a bronc rider with his own rodeo named after him) Arthur Peaslee, Chick Hannon (who left his rodeo career and became a famous B-Film Western actor), Yakima Canutt (famous bronc rider and later a Hollywood stuntman), and a number of the Lockie boys (from the famous Lockie family cattle company). Rodeos in Montana, including the Miles City Roundup, often featured Native American cowboys from local tribes like the Crow, Blackfeet, and Sioux. While records of specific Native American participants in 1930 may not be readily available, their presence was notable in these events. Native American rodeo contestants were often celebrated for their exceptional horsemanship and roping skills. The 1930 Miles City Roundup took place during the early years of the Great Depression, a time of economic hardship across the United States. Despite this, the rodeo continued to be a popular event, offering a sense of excitement and escape for both the competitors and the audience. The condition of this Miles City Rodeo program is well preserved with some wear to the cover consistent with age but otherwise is in well preserved condition. The measurements of this program is 9" x 5 3/4". The collective weight of this program is U6oz.
