Featured in this lot is this black on black carved olla from Santa Clara artist Legoria Tafoya born in 1911 and died in 1984. Provenance: From the Collection of Dr. Martin Gingras, Rochester, New York; Ex-collection / sale of Cowan's Hindman. The pottery vessel features a wonderfully and professionally crafted black on black ceramic construction that shows carvings of geometric patterns adorning the outside side walling of the pottery vessel and the bottom of the pottery vessel is marked as follows: Legoria Tafoya - Santa Clara. The condition of this blackware olla pottery vessel is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this pottery vessel is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". The collective weight of this pottery vessel is 1lb 4oz.
