Featured in this lot is this Chimayo Indian rug coat collected at a homestead in Hesperus, Colorado circa 1930's. Provenance: From the household of Grandmother Pickering whom were homesteading in Hesperus, Colorado in the late 1800's; and was bought from a Chimayo Indian for Grandmother in 1920-1930's. The rug coat features a wonderfully and professionally crafted 100% Chimayo Wool construction that shows familial pattern and medallion like that of the Trujillos or Ortegas families. The pockets are trade cloth lined and the entire coat is fashioned from a traditional Chimayo rug with naturally occurring dyes of grey, black, red, light brown, and light blue. The condition of this Chimayo coat is well preserved for its age with some very slight wear but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this coat is 47 1/2" x 21". The collective weight of this coat is 4lb 7oz.
