This is a circa 1934 R. Wallace & Sons Sterling Silver “Rose Point” pattern silverware / flatware set including eight full size knives and six butter spreading knives with a total weight of 628.2 grams / 22.16 ounces. The butter spreading knives are all solid sterling silver and the large knives are all sterling silver handle with a steel blade having a silver plate. Each knife is stamped STERLING HANDLE and the blade STEEL BLADE SILVER PLATE. The butter spreading knives are each marked PAT. 92220 WALLCE (stag) STERLING. Total of 14 pieces. In 1934 R. Wallace & Sons chief designer William S. Warren introduced the Rose Point silverware pattern which was modeled after fine Venetian Renaissance lace and needlepoint work, based on a centuries earlier Venetian bride. Warren was truly innovative with his philosophy being the ornate carving should be fully visible from the front, back, and profile, acting like a miniature silver sculpture. This shows a gorgeous pattern with intricate scrollwork, roses, and a pierced handle, modeled on the intricate details of needlepoint and lace work. Rose point has become a widely popular and desired pattern. The condition of this 14 piece set of knives are well preserved with some patina adorning some of the pieces otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this of the dinner knives is 9" x 3/4" and the butter knife measures 5 1/2" x 3/4". The collective weight of this set is 628.2 grams / 22.16 ounces / 20.2 troy ounces.
