Included in this lot is a Vintage Sterling Silver Cigarette Box, 1933, Birmingham, UK. A vintage silver cigarette box in the Art Deco style lined with a cedar interior, square with plain straight sides. Over cover lid hinged with tapering tab. The lid has a stylized rectangular cartouche in the center which has been left blank and not engraved, surrounded by engine-turned ornament. Hallmarks are stamped on the left side including the silversmith "TS", Birmingham "anchor", Birmingham date hallmark "J". Originally this would have been for cigarettes or small cigars but could of course be used now for many purposes such as a desk box or for jewelry. Box underside leather lined. Scratches and small dents noted. Measures 3.25"W x 3.25"L x 1.25"H, combined weight is 181 gms.
