Featured in this lot is this Apache Parfleche sheath and knives circa 1940 to 1960's. There are two sheaths and knives in this collection. The Apache sheaths feature Parfleche construction that is painted with red, green, black, and yellow ochre pigmented paint in geometric patterns and with one showing the likeness of buffalo. The second knife sheath shows bone and trade bead adornments. The first knife shows a deer jawbone handle with its teeth intact and is sinew wrapped to secure. The second is a large Bowie clip point blade with a full tang and a carved stag horn handle. Provenance: from the Bruce Miller Collection. The condition of this pair of Apache sheaths and knives is preserved with aging to the Parfleche hide and some fading to the painted face fo the sheaths, with the knife blades shows considerable oxidation and wear all consistent with age. The measurements of these Apache knives in sheath is 14 7/8" x 4 1/2" and 16 1/2" x 3 3/4".
