The lot features a large beaded belt from the Shoshone of circa 1940. The piece exhibits Indian tanned hide and trade clothe thread sewn construction covered in glass trade seed beads showing a chalk white background with Rose floral pattern done in reds, browns and greens. The belt shows a large round medallion at the center with long rope beaded fringes hanging off the bottom. There is little to no bead loss. This piece is an old pawn item collected in Billings, Montana. The belt has an original collection / museum tag that reads, "OLD 1940 Shoshone Beaded Belt $750.00 KAT STL / 1940 Vintage Shoshone Belt $750.00 KAT." The belt overall is 31-inches long, round medallion is 6.25-inches in diameter with beaded fringes that hang 13.5-inches long. Belt area is 4.75-inches wide at the center.
