This is an original circa 1968 Swiss made Omega Seamaster Quartz Caliber 1420 Reference number 196.0233 / 396.0931 wrist watch in the original box. The watch has a caliber 1420 7 Jewels Omega Watch Co. Swiss made movement with a serial number of 26153858 dating the watch to circa 1968. The watch shows a rare grey or silver waffle dial (similar to a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak) with silver hash indices, with a 12 at top and 6 at bottom having a date window at 3, Omega logo and name at the top and Seamaster Quartz below the silver hands. The watch has sapphire crystal surrounded by a fluted ridged stainless steel bezel. The watch also has the original stainless steel Omega 1387/1/398 bracelet with Omega marked clasp. The back of the case is marked Seamaster with the famed Omega Seahorse, the Omega symbol below as well as 1420. The inside of the case back is marked with the Omega symbol, Omega Watch Co. inside a triangle above FAB. SUISSE SWISS MADE MLB 196.0233 / 396.0931 and at the top Acier Inoxydable. This design of watch having the raised stainless bezel with angular case with integral bracelet is so popular that in current years Tissot created the Tissot PRX in its nearly identical form to this Omega Seamaster Cal. 1420. The design of this Omega is very similar to that of the Vacheron Constantin 222. The watch comes in its original red Omega box with gold lettering. The watch has a new battery and appears to be working. There are a few expected wear scuffs, but mostly well kept. This exact variation of the Omega Seamaster is highly collectible with the only identical examples found being sold for between $1,750 and above. The watch fits a large wrist. Box measures 3 5/8” by 2.75” by 2 7/8”.
