Included in this lot is a signed, original Carl Tolpo, “Bald Mountain” oil painting from 1968. Carl Tolpo was born in Ludington, Michigan in 1901. During the course of his career, he established his reputation as a portrait, genre, and landscape painter, as well as a portrait and figure sculptor. As a painter, his works in fine oil portraiture particularly include state portraits and landscape oil paintings of the western USA, mostly the Yellowstone Park region. His works is on display in the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In this 1968, unique oil painting, Tolpo depicts thick clouds immersing the view of Bald Mountain. On the top right corner of this piece, Tolpo signs "From pass- Bald Mt. 7AM Aug 22-68 C. Tolpo -15 min + clouds rolled in". On the backside of this painting is written, "On picture in turnout in big thick clouds come up and engulfed us obliterating a fantastic view. El, 9430". This piece measures 12" by 16".
