Offered in this lot we have 'Catechism of the Locomotive' by Matthias N. Forney. The book was printed by the Railroad Gazette, New York in 1879. The piece discuses the construction and manufacturing of steam engine trains and contains three folding illustrations of said locomotives. Matthias Forney was a mechanical engineer and helped design and build locomotives and is considered the authority on the construction of the steam locomotive. The book is in good condition overall with some wear on the cover and discoloration on some of the pages. The book measures 7 1/4" tall by 5" wide and 1 3/4" thick.
