Included in this lot are fifteen (15) Signed Limited Edition prints in a hand signed portfolio folder by renowed Montana artist, Ace Powell, 1973. Ace Powell was an American artist famous for his detailed scenes of the Western United States. He depicted the rough riding of cowboys, the majestic lifestyle of Native Americans, and the distinctive wildlife roaming the plains through his realistic paintings, prints, and sculptures. Born Asa Lynn “Ace” Powell on April 3, 1912 in Tularosa, NM, the prolific artist was largely self-taught, but did take several lessons in his youth with Charles Marion Russell. With his mentor, Powell developed his signature—an Ace of Diamonds. As well as painting, artist Ace Powell was also well known for his sculptures, and during his career is said to have created between 12,000 and 15,000 paintings and sculptures in total. Although he preferred working with oil paints, he also produced a large number of watercolor paintings and drawings, as well as a number of works in bronze, terracotta, and wood. Powell's Native American paintings for sale are known to fetch considerable sums in excess of $15,000 at auction. The portfolio is in good condition, minimal age tanning noted to the cover. The individual signed prints are very clean, no marring noted and are individually suitable for framing, measuring 8"W x 10"L each. Portfolio tan folder cover has a stylized border design with a reproduction of a Powell painting, measures 8.5"W x 11.5"L, exhibits age tanning and foxing.
