Offered in this lot we have a framed print of Native American Indian scouts by Charles M. Russell. Charles Marion Russell (March 19, 1864 – October 24, 1926),also known as C. M. Russell, Charlie Russell, and "Kid" Russell, was an artist of the Old American West. Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States and in Alberta, Canada, in addition to bronze sculptures. Known as 'the cowboy artist', Russell was also a storyteller and author. The print displays a group of four Native American scouts as they watch a line of covered wagons traveling west. The scouts are depicted on horseback and holding spears with shields on their back. The scouts are standing on a hill top with the caravan traveling lower in the valley next to a rive. The piece is signed in the bottom left hand corner reading "C M Russell 1905". The piece is set into a wooden frame with a light blue border. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear across the frame. The frame measures 21 1/4" wide by 17 1/4" tall with the art measuring 15 1/4" wide by 11 1/2" tall.
