For your consideration are four early, cabinet card photos of children sitting on their velocipede bicycles, taken by various photography studios around the country circa 1880-90s. The first was taken by F.S. Lankey in North Pownal, Vermont. It shows a boy sitting on his velocipede as he smiles for the camera. The photo is marked on the back with the photographer's name and the location of the studio. The second photo was taken by E.L. Cooper in Williamson, New York. The photo shows a young boy sitting on his velocipede bicycle as he looks towards the photographer. The bottom of the photo is marked with the photographer's name and the location of the studio. The third photo was taken by S.S. Richards in Newark, New York. The photo shows a very young boy sitting on his velocipede as he holds the handle bars and looks towards the camera. The bottom and the back are marked with the photographer and the location of the studio. The fourth and final photo shows a young girl, J. Wilson Fairbank, aged four, being photographed in Spokane in 1891. She is wearing a large hat, a white shirt, black overcoat and black pants and boots as she stands over her velocipede and looks towards the camera. It is marked on the back reading, "J. Wilson Fairbank Age 4 / Maxwells Spokane 1891". The photos show good condition overall with some wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. They measure from 6 1/2" L x 4 1/4" W to 5 7/8" L x 4 1/4" W. They have a collective weight of under 6 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona.
