Featured in this lot is a Chinese Warring States style Jian sword. The Jian is a Chinese double edged straight blade sword that was designed to be used in one hand and was developed in the 7th century. Jian style swords were used for the last 2,500 years and are known in Chinese folk lore as the "Gentleman of Weapons". The sword displays a solid bronze construction with integrated guard and disk handle and pommel. The piece shows a diamond design with dual edges. The guard shows an embossed design across the sides. The sword shows an oxidized exterior with pitting and grind marks. The piece shows good condition overall, with some light wear across the blade. The sword measures 21" long, with the blade being 16 3/4" long.
