For your consideration is this Chippewa Cree Ceremonial Bronze Head Medicine Staff Lance, from the Many Trails Collection at the former Indian Nations Trading Post in Livingston, Montana. in the 20th century. A Chippewa Cree medicine stick is a sacred, handcrafted ceremonial item, similar to a talking stick or prayer stick, used for spiritual purposes like healing, prayer, and facilitating respectful communication in gatherings, often featuring natural elements such as wood, fur, feathers, beads, and sometimes animal bone, representing deep cultural connection to nature and tradition. This medicine staff features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction of Venetian Trade beads, seed beads, pony beads, metal beads and Turkey feathers. The beadwork shows a floral, geometric design with colors of yellow, orange, purple, blue, black, green and white. Adorning the stained wood staff are parfleche, Indian tanned leather and rawhide strips adorned with brass tacks. The top of the staff is adorned with a large, bronze lance head held in place by wrapped parfleche and rawhide. The medicine staff shows good condition overall with little wear present and no signs of damage noted. It measures 2"W x 70.25"L, total weight of 2lb, 14oz. TURKEY FEATHERS
