Featured in this lot is this Civil War era sharp shooting glasses circa 1860's and displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. These glasses feature amber colored frames with a frosted perimeter and clear central area. The clear center area allows for the wearer to focus on their target. The frames are constructed from steel. Sharpshooting glasses from the 1860s were specialized optical aids used by Civil War marksmen to enhance their long-distance vision and accuracy. Typically resembling early forms of tinted or magnifying spectacles, these glasses helped reduce glare and improve focus, giving Union and Confederate sharpshooters a crucial edge during skirmishes and sniper operations. The glasses come with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Civil War Sharp Shooter Glasses. The condition of this pair of shooting glasses is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows a good overall condition. The measurements of this pair of shooting glasses is 4 1/4" x 4 5/8".
