This lot features a classic early Civil War issue Colt 1860 Army .44 Caliber percussion six shot revolver. This was one of the most issued and popular of the Civil War revolvers with many, if not most, going to the West after the war for Indian Wars or frontier service. This example is complete and functioning. It has matching numbers on the back strap, trigger guard, barrel assembly and frame. Overall, it displays an attractive deep aged patina with no evidence of having been buffed, polished, steel-wooled or cleaned. Correct 8” barrel with fine and correct Colt one line address on top “ADDRESS COL. SAM’L COLT NEW YORK, U S AMERICA,” correct small blade front sight, attached loading lever functions correctly, one piece walnut grips intact and shows a light roll engraved cylinder scene. This fine Colt firearm was manufactured in 1862. Serial Number: 78932. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
