Featured in this lot is this Clanton Ranch excavated Vaquero bit and single spur circa 19th century and were housed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The collection includes a bit and single spur of Vaquero or Mexican Cowboy origins. The bit is a very old short shank ring Vaquero bit with a long port and cricket still intact; the bit has rudimentary repair work done and comes with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Bit was found on the Clanton Ranch by Joe Perotti, SR. The single spur is clearly of Vaquero origin with a figure eight rowel housing and carved floral design most likely originally sporting some silver inlay to the side walling and comes with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Spur was Found on the Clanton Ranch by Joe Perotti, SR. The condition of this Clanton Ranch found bit and spur is preserved with heavy oxidation to the these excavated artifacts consistent with age and the spur showing a spur strap button missing but otherwise shows a preserved condition. The measurements of this bit is 9" x 4 1/2" x 2" and the spur measures 6" x 3 1/2" x 3". The collective weight of this single spur is 1lb 4oz.
