Featured in this lot is this oil on board called "Bear Paw Full Moon," circa 1978 by Montana artist Clarence Cuts the Rope born in 1935 and died in 2000. A number of locals, including the son of famed Hays-based artist Clarence Cuts The Rope, have asked Wells Fargo executives to donate a large painting, done by Cuts The Rope, to be hung in the new Hays community center when it is completed. The painting was one of two commissioned by the bank in 1982 (it was Bank of Montana at that time). Clarence Cuts The Rope died in 2000. The painting shows a scene of two deer on a moon lit snowy hillside with a tree line in the distance and a greener valley down below and mountains in the far off distance. The artist signature and peace pipe pictomark are shown in the bottom right hand corner and is dated from '1978.' The condition of this oil on board is well preserved with some slight speckling from age and no obvious wear to the frame but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed oil painting 19 3/4" x 28 1/2" and the visible artwork measures 14 3/4" x 23 1/2".
