Included in this lot are Four (4) Coffrin's Old West Gallery Photographs by L. A. Huffman. Laton Alton Huffman, commonly known as "L.A," was an American photographer of Frontier and Native American life. Noted for the clarity of his works, Huffman captured on film the essence of our early American Indian warriors, U.S. Army soldiers, buffalo hunters, bullwhackers, and others. He was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. He apprenticed under F. Jay Haynes, who was both the official photographer of the Northern Pacific Railway and of Yellowstone National Park as well as operating early transportation concessions in the park. All of these pictures were taken by L.A Huffman whose work dated from 1878-1920. The Old West Gallery's collection of Huffman negatives is one of the largest in existence today. Originally from Miles City, Montana, Coffrin's Old West Gallery relocated to Bozeman, Montana in 1991. First photograph is of five men sitting outside The Bob Saloon in Ismay, Montana, 1906; second photograph is of a Bull Train, Miles City, Montana 1880; third is a colourized photograph of a Bull Train at Main & Park Streets, Miles City, Montana 1881; and lastly, a photograph titled The First Pull At The Latigo, circa 1904. Each photograph is mounted in a cardboard tabletop photograph frame protected by a plastic sleeve, the reverse sides have the original Miles City gallery address. Photographs are well preserved, no obvious marring observed, each measures 8.25"W x 10.25"L in frame approximately.
