Included in this lot is a collection of four Papago Indian hand woven baskets, circa 1950. The Papago Tohono O'odham (People of the Desert) are located in Arizona and are known for their weaving skills. These baskets feature tight weaving of yucca and bear grass. These baskets show different designs, including a leaf design, two turtle designs, and swastika, all featuring the black devil's claw rim stitching. One of the pieces features a tag, indicating that it is a Papago piece. These pieces are all in good condition and are made circa 1950. The leaf patterned bowl measures 6" by 1 1/4"; the dark turtle patterned basket measures 6 1/2" by 1 1/2"; the swastika pattern measures 7" by 6 3/4"; and the light turtle piece measures 7 3/4" by 1/2".
