Included in this lot is a collection of three Papago Indian hand woven baskets. The Papago Tohono O'odham (People of the Desert) are located in Arizona and are known for their weaving skills. These baskets feature tight weaving of yucca and bear grass. These baskets show different designs, including a star design, sun design, and a geometric design. The star designed basket features a tag, indicating that it is a Papago basket made by Molly Gregorio at Santa Rosa. On the back of the tag it indicates that this piece was made in 1971. All of these pieces are in good condition for their age, not showing any signs of damage. The star basket measures 8 1/8" by 1"; the geometric basket measures 9 5/8" by 1"; and the sun basket measures 10" by 1 1/2".
