The Colt "Cavalry" revolver officially refers to the famous Colt Single Action Army (SAA) Model 1873, which was the standard-issue sidearm for the U.S. Army horse soldiers. Featuring a 7.5" barrel and chambered in .45 caliber Colt, it became an iconic symbol of the American frontier. The heavy-hitting .45 caliber cartridge and rugged, black-powder design were ideal for horseback carry and were heavily used throughout the American Indian Wars. This case is in good overall condition, velvet covered moulded form insert intact, felt on base intact, rich patina noted throughout.
