This lot gives you the opportunity to bid on a magnificent example of a Colt Diamondback Double-Action Revolver, chambered in .22 Long Rifle, including its original box, and showcasing a 99% deep blue finish. The fine revolver was manufactured between 1966 and 1988 - Released as a deluxe model, visually resembling a scaled down version of the iconic Colt Python, built on the Colt D-Frame. The revolver features a factory standard wide-pad serrated target hammer, a 4" barrel with a full ventilated rib, and barrel underlug, and a fully-adjustable rear target sight, paired with a ramped front sight. Additionally, the revolver utilizes a six-shot, swing out cylinder, with a hand-ejector. The revolver is marked in numerous places, reading; "DIAMONDBACK - .22 Long Rifle" on the left side of the barrel, "Colt's PT. F.A. MFG. CO. Hartford. CONN. U.S.A." on the right side of the barrel, "D48024" on the left side of the frame, under the cylinder swing-arm, and on the back of the swing-arm itself. The revolver also shows the Bucking colt on the left side of the frame, and the Colt Medallion on each of the finely checkered wood grips. The revolver shows exceptional aesthetic and mechanical condition. The fine Colt action is smooth, with a very-tight cylinder lock-up, and a very-bright bore, showing excellent rifling. The deep-blue'd finish shows 99%+, with only very slight wear to the hard edges of the rear sight. The grips show very-good condition as well, displaying sharp checkering, with only minor handling marks on the butt, and left grip panel. The original, matching box shows good condition, with wear on the edges, and a detached short-end. This collector-grade firearm is desirable for its rarity, and can be seen in its .38 variant in Hollywood Blockbusters such as "Bullitt", in the hands of Steve McQueen, and in "Brannigan", used by John Wayne. This revolver qualifies as a Modern Handgun, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: D48024.
