Included in this lot is a Colt First Generation Single Action Army .41 Colt revolver. This classic American firearm utilizes a 7 ½” round barrel chambered in .45 Colt. During World War II, the Peacemaker fell out of regular production as Colt was occupied with wartime contracts. Following the conflict, the most popular shows on the television sets of the era were Westerns, sparking a renewed interest in the “cowboy” gun. With this, Colt returned the SAA to the assembly line in 1956, producing 2nd Generation guns. This first generation Single Action Army shows a grayed patina indicative of age and use. The top of the barrel reads “Colts PT F.A. MFG Co. Hartford CT U.S.A.” and the left is stamped “45 Colt”. The left of the frame is marked with the classic Colt three line patent date reading “Pat. Sept. 19.1871. “ July. 2. -72. “ Jan. 19. -75.” The cylinder shows a partial matching serial number and the firearm is fit with walnut grips. This firearm has a manufacture date of 1881.
