Featured in this lot we have a Colt Legend commemorative NFR 1996 single action army revolver chambered in .45 caliber. This revolver commemorates the first year that Colt sponsored the National Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1996. A total of 1,000 commemorative revolvers were manufactured with this fine pistol marked as number 11. This commemorative revolver features a nickel finish with wonderful golden inlayed etchings. The revolver displays a 5 1/2" long round barrel, six shot cylinder, dark horn grips, under barrel ejector rod, and single action design. The barrel is marked across the left reading "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45", "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." across the top, and "THE LEGEND" etched on the right. The frame is marked with etched pair of cowboy boots and "NFR 1996" on the right and "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. JULY 2. JAN. 19. 75.". The grips back strap shows a cowboy on the back of a bucking bronco etching near the base of the hammer with "PROFESSIONAL RODEO COWBOYS ASSOCIATION" down the strap. The grips shows a dark horn construction with colt medallions set into the top of each. Mechanically the revolver shows wonderful timing and smooth action. The revolver shows excellent condition with no notable wear or damage across the piece. The pistol comes with a wonderful fitted wood display case with blue fabric interior and glass front marked with both NFR logos and 1996. The revolver comes with a $4,300 hand written tag from its last purchase. The revolver weighs 2lbs 4oz with the pistol and box together weighing 7lbs 4oz. Serial Number: 0011.
