For your consideration is a Colt medium frame Lightning .32-20 WCF slide action rifle. The rifle features a fully octagon 26” barrel with blue factory finish and has fixed sights and is marked, "COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CONN. U.S.A. / PATENTED MAY 29. SEPT. 18. 83. MAY 26. 85. JUNE 15. 86. FEB. 22. 87." along with "32 Cal". This rifle was manufactured in 1895. The rifle receiver shows a mellow patina'd, blue factory finish with even honest surfaces married to a factory walnut hardwood stock and broken fore-grip. This was Colt’s response to Winchester making repeating lever action rifles in the same caliber as those offered in the famed Colt Single Action Army Revolver. Many frontiersmen preferred to carry their big Colt Revolvers chambered for the same caliber as their repeating rifle—this was Colt’s answer. This is the medium frame Colt Lightning example. The rifle appears to be in functioning, overall good to fair condition for its early collectible age. This is truly a rare firearm. Curio and Relic, FFL Transfer or NICS Background check required. Serial Number: 77316. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
