Colt Model 1849 Pocket single action Revolver with cartridge conversion .38 Center Fire caliber Revolver. The revolver features a 4 1/2" octagonal barrel, walnut grips, brass trigger guard, case hardened frame, a five shot cylinder, and leather holster. This is the rare and preferred blue and case color round barrel model (most were nickel plated) made without ejector of which only about 10,000 in all finishes were made, matching serial numbers on the cylinder, frame, barrel, trigger guard and back strap, this model was serialized within the percussion Model 1849 range, this one is serial numbered 17811. A popular hideout revolver with gamblers, lawmen, outlaws and anyone needing a powerful and compact revolver of the highest quality. This was Colt’s finest pocket revolver made during the early Post Civil War years when percussion revolvers were giving way to superior cartridge firing weapons. The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA" and patent dates on the side of the frame. The pistol shows a tight working action and clear brass accents. The revolver comes with a Will Maker Chormley leather holster. The pistol shows a worn blued finish with light pitting across the barrel. Serial Number: 17811.
