For your consideration in this lot we have a pre-Civil war Colt model 1851 Navy percussion cap revolver chambered in .36caliber. This fine example of Colt’s most famous and popular model percussion revolver features a 7 1/2" long barrel, six shot cylinder, brass trigger guard, walnut grips, and refinished nickel plating. This fine example of Colt’s most famous and popular model percussion revolver with the top of the barrel marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY" with the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS PATENT U.S.". The cylinder shows deep file marks across the front of the piece with percussion cap system. The revolver features matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger, cylinder, and grip butt. The Colt 1851 Navy was one of the most classic side arms of the Civil War and later in the Old West. Wild Bill Hickock was carrying a pair of Colt 1851 Navy revolvers when he was gunned down in Deadwood, South Dakota on August 2, 1876. The colt shows good condition overall with some light wear across the brass and wood grips, with the nickel finished redone.
