Very fine condition Colt Model 1877 “Lightning” .38 Colt Center Fire Caliber Double Action Six Shot Revolver with very desirable 4 1/2” barrel with ejector, #158675 correctly matching on frame, back strap and trigger guard, made 1905. Comes with the early flap holster that has been with this particular revolver for many decades. Most of the 1877s were made with shorter barrels and without the ejector mounted on the side of the barrel like those found on the famed Colt Single Action Army Revolver. The more common ejector-less models were for pocket carry while these long barreled ejector models were considered serious belt or holster guns. This example came out of here in Montana and was made during the Frontier Years of the state that extended well into the 1920s in many locals. This revolver is in surprisingly fine condition with nice aged blue remaining overall and still retains excellent and sharp three line patent dates of Sept. 19, 1871; Sept. 15, 1874 and Jan. 19, 1875 as well as the correct “COLT D. A. 38 CAL” stamping on the left rear side of the barrel. The top of the barrel is also correctly and clearly stamped “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co.” over “HARTFORD, CT U.S.A.” Retains the original unaltered front sight, beautiful screws, bright rifled bore and excellent mechanics- this is very unusual as most examples of this desirable Colt Six Shooter have internal mechanisms that no longer function properly. Fine checkered hard rubber grips with the famed “Rampant Colt” in an oval embossed at the top. Especially scarce and desirable with blue finish as most were nickel plated. A favored revolver of both Billy the Kid and Texas gunfighter John Wesley Hardin. Would be right at home in the finest Old West, Frontier or Colt collection. A superior Model 1877 with especially scarce and desirable features. The firearm qualifies as an Antique revolver and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 158675
