Featured in this lot we have a Original World War I U.S. Army issued Colt model 1911 semi automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP. This pistol was manufactured in 1918 by Colt for the first World War. The Model 1911 is one of the most recognizable and well known American pistols and is still in production today. This early 1911 features a 5" long round barrel, checkered wooden grips, steel frame, wide trigger addition, and adjustable rear sight. The side of the slide is marked "Model of 1911. U.S. Army" on the right and PATENTED APR. 20. 1897. SEPT. 9. 1902 DEC. 19. 1905. FEB. 14. 1911. AUG. 19. 1913 COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." on the left. The pistol shows wonderful working condition with a smooth action, crisp trigger, and grip safety. The pistol shows fair condition showing much of the original blue finish with pitting and holster wear across much of the left side and exterior. The pistol weighs 2lbs 6oz. Serial Number: 353899.
