This is a Colt New Line, factory engraved revolver, chambered for the rare .41 Rim Fire cartridge. The Colt New Line was in production from 1873 to 1884, though the .41 Caliber option was only manufactured from 1874 to 1879, with only 7,000 examples produced. To put that number in context, 11,000 .30 Cal RF models were produced, and 55,000 were made in .22 Cal. The revolver utilizes a five shot, fluted cylinder, single action spur trigger, fine walrus ivory grips, and a nickel finish. The revolver is marked with correct roll stamping, reading; "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. - HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on the top of the barrel, "8817" underneath the left grip panel, "183" on the back of the cylinder, "335 - PAT. SEPT. 15, 1874" on the bottom of the barrel, and "41 CAL" on the left side of the frame. The .41 Colt Centerfire is distinguished with a "C" after the Caliber mark. The revolver is additionally stamped underneath the grip panel with "R. F. ENEWOLD" attributing the revolver to renowned gunsmith and collector, Robert Enewold of Nevada. Overall, the revolver shows good condition, with sharp factory engraving, good nickel finish, and remnants of deep blue on the backstrap of the hammer. The revolver shows very-good mechanical condition, with a strong action, tight cylinder lock-up, and a healthy bore, with good rifling, and only minor darkness. The revolver qualifies as an Antique Handgun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 8817.
