Featured in this lot is a Colt Model 1872 Open-Top revolver, chambered for 22 long. The Colt Open Top is a single action, 7-shot, rear loading revolver, built on a brass frame, with a nickel finish barrel, and cylinder. Additionally, the pistol utilizes walnut birds-head grips, spur trigger, and a v-notch rear hammer sight, paired with a brass blade front sight. The revolver shows correct roll stampings, reading; "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG Co - HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on the top of the barrel, "22 CAL" on the left side of the frame, and matching serial numbers on the butt of the grip, and on the bottom of the barrel. Overall, the revolver shows good condition, with a mellow patina forming on the brass frame, excellent wood grips, and reasonable finish retention on the cylinder and barrel. Mechanically the revolver shows good condition, with a tight action, in good time. There is some play in cylinder lock-up, and the bore shows fair condition. The revolver qualifies as an Antique Handgun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 82488.
