For auction in this lot is a Colt Number 2 Derringer pistol, chambered for .41 rim fire. The pistol shows the same frame style as the Number 1, but features checkered wooden grips, instead of solid metal. The pistol utilizes a spur trigger, and a low profile hammer. The pistol shows good remnants of factory scroll engraving, and utilizes a notched rear hammer sight, with a German silver front blade sight. The pistol is marked twice with serial number 2694, and has correct post-1600 roll stamping, reading "COLT'S PT. F.A.MFG Co - HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. - NO 2" on the top of the barrel. Overall, the pistol shows good original condition, there is a nice naturally aged patina forming on the metal components, and the grips show very good condition. The action is smooth,and the bore shows fair condition, showing good remnants of rifling, but showing pitting. The pistol qualifies as an Antique Handgun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 2694.
