The lot features a beautiful bi-point catlinite pipestone stone head war club with beadwork attributed to the Comanche. The club shows a dark red catlinite pipe stone solid head carved with a bi-point or two point classic pattern head secured to the handle with a wrap of parfleche rawhide with thread sewn beadwork atop. This is an abnormally large head and long handle, made in the pattern of larger Horseback war clubs. Below the head is shows sections of Indian tanned hide fringes with rolled tin jingle cone ends hacing porcupine hair fringes. The wooden handle is completley covered in rawhide parfleche along with lazy stitched bands of glass trade seed beads in a classic Comanche colors. The colors are larger pony greasy yellow along with seed beads in chalk white, semi-transparent green and dark red maroon or pipestone red. The gripping area is dark and bear of beadwork. The bottom shows additional beadwork as well as a drop of Indian tanned hide fringes as well as rare, large wound glass pony trade beads in greasy yellow, chalk white and greasy or dark semi-transparent red, thread sewn. Similar to the Comanche Stone Head Horseback War Club 19th C. sold by NAAC in 2020 for $1,476 (w/ bp). Measures overall without fringes 31.5"L with an additional 15"L fringe drop on the end. The head is 6.75" by 3" by 2".
