The lot features a rare authentic carved cottonwood saddle frame encased in rawhide parfleche attributed to the Comanche Native American Indians and dating to the 19th Century. The saddle shows all sinew sewn stitching with two hooped or round tree horns. The piece shows a rich mellow patina throughout. This would have been used most likely as the frame for one of the pack horses when the tribe would change their lodge location. These authentic early examples are very scarce and highly desired as shown by the Comanche Saddle sold by Heritage Auctions for $3,750 in their 11/15/2013 sale. At the end of the belt shows an older green museum collection identification tag that is marked "B.512" and "DJ JJ".
